Hot on the heels of At The Drive-In announcing a comeback after 11 years of silence, they are listed among the artists playing this year’s Coachella Music Festival in Indio, California.
I’m extremely pumped about this year’s line-up, not only because of my love for At The Drive-In, but Justice, Radiohead, Avicii, Calvin Harris, Arctic Monkeys, a Dr. Dre/Snoop Dogg collab set, and Santigold will all be there. Not to mention Madness and Jimmy Cliff (some favorites from my rude-boy days).
And I wouldn’t put it passed Coachella to announce some huge surprise headliner the closer we get to the festival in April (i.e. Prince a few years ago). My predictions? Daft Punk, My Morning Jacket, Kanye West/Jay-Z collab.
EDIT: This is a TWO-WEEKEND event. I have no idea what the schedule of bands will look like, or if each band will perform each weekend. This does complicate things for those who won’t be able to stay in California at the end of April for a full week.
Foster The People‘s song “Pumped Up Kicks” has been a hit in the indie world since it debuted last year, and this remix by The Knocks adds synth and a kick ass dance track. And they’ll be playing Coachella this year, so don’t miss out!
It’s been 5 years since The Strokes have released an album, so it’s no surprise to say that their upcoming release, Angles, is one of the most anticipated albums of the year. Alright, so I may have toned that down a bit, because people are freaking the eff out over this. The Strokes are headlining festivals all over the country (Bonnaroo, Coachella and South By Southwest) and every song leaked spreads like wild fire across the music blogosphere.
Both of these tracks will appear on Angles, and they’re both what you’d expect from The Strokes, great indie-rock.
You can tell the festival season is starting back up when Coachella announces their line up. And we have to admit, with the exception of Kings of Leon as a headliner (oh, and the fact that Duran Duran is even allowed to perform still), the rest of the line up is pretty good. Arcade Fire, Kanye West, The Strokes, Robyn, Wiz Khalifa, Cee Lo Green, Chromeo. It’s almost like we got to put it together!
This is only the first announcement, there are sure to be additions and changes up until the festival kicks off in April, so keep checking in!
