BC’s Top 50 Fav Hip-Hop Songs of All Time (#20-11)

Hip-Hop-Albums

Well, we’ve made it to the Top 20. This is where things got really difficult for me. I mean, each of these could easily be in anyone’s Top 10. Each one is a classic, in it’s own right, and you won’t be disappointed.

[Throwback Thursday] Big Tymers | “Still Fly”

I had a discussion with my good friend (and fellow hip hop head) a few days ago about Dirty South Hip Hop, and Big Tymer’s “Still Fly” popped up. We came to the realization that this song perfectly describes rap in the South: They don’t give a crap about anything, and they flaunt that fact. Instead of talking about being gangsters, or having millions of dollars and huge mansions, “Still Fly” has Birdman and Mannie Fresh talking about how they have no money, but they act like rock stars. They have no shame in the fact that they roll around in an Impala with porn playing on their car TVs.

And God bless ’em, I love this shit.

Lil Wayne feat. Tyga, Chris Brown | “Fresh”

I’m not sure if this is an official track or not (because We Back Soon certainly isn’t an official mixtape), but whatever the case, “Fresh” is killer. The drum’n’bass thumping beat hits hard and Tyga and Chris Brown destroy their verses (though, I must admit, it’s strange hearing Chris Brown trying to HAM on this thing). As you can see, Weezy has virtually nothing to do with this track, he is only used as a sample, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be bumping this in this club.

Basic Physics | “The 300 Club (LMFAO v. Lil Wayne v. Rihanna & more)”

Basic Physics has hit 300,000 listens on SoundCloud, and decided to make the most insane mash-up ever. LMFAO’s “Champagne Showers” provides the back-beat, but he then goes ape-shit, throwing in Rihanna, Lil Wayne, Amanda Blank, Usher, DeadMau5, Chromeo, and Far East Movement, and those are only the ones I could easily pick out.

Chris Brown feat. Lil Wayne | “I Can Only Imagine (Prod. by David Guetta)”

It’s like the Planets of Top 40 have all aligned.

Chris Brown (apparently taking a break from being insane), Weezy, and David Guetta, this is a friggin’ party anthem! It makes all those Black Eyed Peas atrocities look like “droopy-eyed armless children.” (Thanks Sheen)

Lil Wayne | “Sorry 4 The Wait” Mixtape

No stranger to rapping over, well, anything, Lil Wayne spits over virtually everything on his latest mixtape. He samples Adelle’s “Rolling In The Deep,” Waka Flocka Flame’s “Grove St. Party,” Drake’s “Marvin’s Room,” and of course, Kreayshawn’s “Gucci Gucci.”

Sorry 4 The Wait is essentially an apology from Weezy for pushing back his long-awaited Tha Carter IV, now set to release August 29.
