[VIDEO] Turquoise Jeep | “TASTE YOU LIKE YOGURT”

taste-you-like-yogurt

I’ve never met a Turquoise Jeep video I didn’t love. “TASTE YOU LIKE YOGURT” (You have to type it in all caps or it doesn’t count) has spaceships, German DJ Flula Borg singing (and dancing) during the chorus, Whatchyamcallit’s glorious goatee, a Flynt Flossy cameo, all on top of a sickeningly catchy dance beat.

But be careful when singing this in public, people may take it the wrong way. Keep the Jeep ridin, yall!

[Hump-Day Bump-N-Grind] Blackstreet | “Don’t Leave Me”

Front

Another edition of Wednesday’s “Hump-Day Bump-N-Grind” to help you get through the rest of your week. This week, it’s the Blackstreet 1997 (near-forgotten) classic, “Don’t Leave Me.” The chorus sounds like K-Ci & JoJo before anyone knew who they were. And don’t forget the unforgettable DeBarge sample, which was used a year earlier on 2pac’s “I Ain’t Mad At Cha.”

[Throwback Thursday] Mark Morrison | “Return of the Mack”

I could only hold off dedicating a Throwback Thursday to Mark Morrison’s 1996 classic for so long. It’s the anthem for any guy who’s been burned by a lady. There’s nothing like being able to tell a lying, cheating girlfriend that her biggest mistake is putting you back on the market, because you’re about to tear it up. And that’s what “Return of the Mack” is all about. Coupled with groovy beat, and an infectious hook (I dare you to find someone who wouldn’t belt out the “You lieeeddd to me” part), “Return of the Mack” isn’t just a song, it’s a lifestyle.

[THROWBACK THURSDAY] Aaliyah feat. Timbaland | “Are You That Somebody”

I’m taking it back to 1998 with this Aaliyah hit, which was actually recorded for the Dr. Doolittle soundtrack (you might remember that as the point of no return into Eddy Murphy’s now crap-tastic movie career). Aaliyah was the “Princess of R&B” and Timbaland was really making a name for himself both as a performer and a producer.

Timbaland’s beats (and rhymes) and Aaliyah’s soft, soulful vocals still make this a club jam, not to mention how unforgettable that baby sound in the back ground is.

I remember having such a crush on Aaliyah then, and the clothes she wears in the “Are You That Somebody” video only cemented the fact that I have hella good taste in ladies.
